Size Guide

Every piece fits a little differently, so each product page shows the size chart for that piece. This page shows how to read them, and how to measure yourself (or a piece you already love) so the numbers mean something.

1. The numbers on our product pages

The size chart (every piece)
The size chart for that piece. Most charts give body measurements (the body each size is cut for). When a chart gives garment measurements instead, it says so.

Each line on the product page tells you which kind it is.

2. How we measure a piece (flat)

BUSTWAISTHIPLENGTH

All measurements are in inches, with the piece laid flat, zipped or buttoned, and smoothed without stretching.

Measurement How it's taken What to do with it
Bust Straight across, armpit to armpit (or across the top edge for strapless pieces) Double it to compare with your bust measurement
Waist Straight across at the narrowest point Double it to compare with your waist
Hip Straight across, 7 in below the waist Double it to compare with your hips
Length From the highest point of the shoulder (or the top edge, if strapless) straight down to the hem Compare with the same measurement on a piece you own
Stretch We measure the waist flat, then gently stretch it as far as it comfortably goes and measure again Shown as a percent: (stretched - relaxed) ÷ relaxed

Stretch, in plain words

  • No stretch (0-5%): choose by your largest measurement.
  • Some stretch (6-20%): a flat measurement a little under yours can still fit.
  • Stretchy (over 20%): the piece is cut to hug; your usual size is the safer starting point.

These bands describe what our measurements show. They aren't a promise of how a piece will fit you, so compare the numbers when you can.

3. Measure yourself

Use a soft tape measure, over the underwear you'll wear on the night.

  • Bust: around the fullest part, tape level across your back.
  • Waist: around your natural waist, the narrowest part.
  • Hips: around the fullest part of your hips.
  • Your length point: stand straight and measure from the top of your shoulder down to where you want the hem to sit. Compare that with the piece's length.

4. The quickest check: measure something you own

  1. Pick a piece you love the fit of: a similar dress, top or skirt.
  2. Lay it flat and measure it the same way as the table above.
  3. Compare its numbers with the piece you're looking at. If the length or width is close, the new piece will sit close to the same place on you.

5. Fit model notes

When a real fit model has worn a piece, its page says so, with the fit model's height and size and where the hem sat. Pieces without that line haven't been worn by our fit model yet. Our product photos are styled on AI-generated models and are never used to describe fit.
